In recent years, Brush & Ink calligraphy workshops have become a meaningful part of community events across Greater Houston. Since October 2024 alone, Dr. Junrui Garcia has conducted sessions at Liberty High School, Trebly Park, Market Square Park, First Colony Branch Library, and the Houston Children’s Museum - each bringing people together through the timeless beauty of brush and ink.
These workshops are rooted in a philosophy that goes far beyond handwriting:
Calligraphy is not decorative writing - it’s expressive art. Using traditional Chinese brush and ink, participants learn to write naturally, allowing their unique rhythm and style to shine through. It’s about artistic character, not imitation.
It’s not about what language you write - it’s about how you express your thoughts, your faith, and your ideas. Whether writing in Chinese, English, or any other language, what matters is how each person uses the medium to reflect, manage emotions, and share their inner voice.
From children and families to curious adults and seasoned art lovers, each workshop becomes a space of joy, focus, and creativity. The shared experience, as shown in the photo above, is one of exploration, connection, and personal growth.
Brush & Ink will continue spreading the beauty and philosophy of calligraphy—one thoughtful stroke at a time.
